What calls this book into existence?
We are living in a personal and collective mess
Through inadequate treatment as children a hole inside ourselves stays where a deep trust into life should have developed. This leads to us looking for love in external things (shopping, work, food, sex, social media, drugs, etc.).
And the only way of supplying 8 billion addicts with their next fix is the exploitation of nature. We’re living in collective misery and pulled all other species into it.
Humans have the power of gods, but lack the wisdom of gods
We ascended to the top of the food chain through our use of technology. From paleolithic stone axes to our modern day computers. Technology equips our feeble bodies with sheer unlimited power. But we misuse this power for our own personal gain.
We treat all other beings, our fellow humans included, as resources to be exploited, as raw material out of which the quick fixes to our inner emptiness are manufactured.
Either we step into our role as custodians of Earth or everything will collapse
With great power comes great responsibility. What if humanity would put its enormous capabilities to collective use? What if we would see ourselves as the custodians, the stewards and caretakers, Gaia, our loving Mother Earth, needs us to be?
If we radically reimagine the way we live we have the chance to build a true paradise - for us and every other living being on this beautiful planet.

Intense longing for community
Living in deep connection with like-minded people who are as crazy in a positive way as we are. People who truly get us and with whom we can build the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible.
Existential sadness
We are highly sensitive to what is going on around us. We feel the whole extent of the mess that was created on this earth - individually and collectively. And sometimes we are swallowed by its sheer intensity.
Stretched by complexity
We are already contributing our gifts to the greater good. But it seems that it‘s never enough. They are needed everywhere at once. All the issues are interrelated and so complex.
Finite resources
Being strong purpose driven leaders, we need to admit that our capacities are limited. Our children, our businesses, our relationships, the whole world - everybody appears to be demanding our attention.

Whereas the rest of humanity blindly follows their own short-sighted desires, we act with a whole systems bird's eye view. We treat our bodies and our minds as the infinitely powerful entities they are.
We surrender to the greater forces and go out of the way. So that we can become the vessel through which precisely what is necessary will be brought down to this earth. This is how a custodian of Gaia approaches every area of life: relationships, work, health, etc.

All the fancy co-living projects out there don‘t go far enough. Either the local people get exploited, the setting is only dedicated to crypto hustlepreneurs without children, vast swathes of nature are cut for pseudo-sustainable luxury mansions or it‘s a „let‘s escape to the forest and hope the global issues won‘t affect us“ kinda setting.
We aim to build the most aligned living systems - in nature, community and service. Where every living being thrives.

While we work on embodying our new identity as a custodian of the whole, we simultaneously redesign the fundamental systems that govern our world. Imagine a monetary system in alignment with the biosphere. Or an educational system that preserves our children's innate genius.

Why I release „Gaia’s Custodians” now …
I’m Robert, 33 years old, born and raised in Germany and now living in Bali.
10 years ago I started my first business about my raw vegan diet. Since then I have embarked a host of different projects all dedicated to serving the more beautiful world: one of Germany’s biggest conscious entrepreneurship conferences, an incubator for purpose-driven personal brands, a co-working space in Berlin, two community villages, a cinema movie and much more.
With everything I did my perspective broadened and I understood more and more why the world is as it is - and that the traditional measures don’t really work. They are not systemic enough and too short-sighted.
But my biggest teacher …
My son Lionel, now two years old. He demands nothing less than what is in perfect alignment - for him, for me, for the world.

We are asked to leave behind our childish behavior of taking more and more and really grow up into the mature, strong and caring adults Mother Earth intended us to be. Yes. After 10 years of doing business, I stepped into the realm of the gift fully. I see my work as a gift to the world and let everybody check in with themselves if they feel the urge to contribute.
And yes, to be honest, as beautiful as it sounds to live in the gift, it is quite a stretch. Every day. All the skeletons are invited to come out of the closet. Each and every situation of my past 33 years in this incarnation where I felt not seen, not heard, not valued, arises to the surface. With all the emotions that this entails. And simultaneously all the outside pressures of the old world where we still have bills to pay, and money is an important resource for navigating life as it is right now. No, I didn’t put aside a nice sum of money for myself while conducting business. Everything always went back into serving the purpose.
But besides these challenges, I know there is no other path. The only way forward is through. I sense that stepping into the realm of the gift brings profound healing—for myself and for the world as a whole.
So here is my gift for you. I put all my love and creativity into it. May it serve you in whichever way that is most aligned.
